To those who are living in a democratic country, the people’s living situation in a rotten country is not that clear.
I was born in a peaceful village. The footloose country life had made me ignorant of the nation’s affairs. However, I grew up and I finally heard about the corruptions. Thus, I became unsatisfied with the government.
The local government officers oppress the people and make interest from the people who are oppressed, because they think that the governments of higher level are too far away and they are not easy to supervise the local governments. They start unpractical projects to collect money. Even more, they embezzle the fund that was distributed the disaster area. Some people buy the government positions for more interest. The common people have no place to sue them because the government officers, including the high-level officers, cover each other. They are not satisfied with the interest they have already made and they are still looking for more. They do not worry about being investigated. There is a word: Not the ability, but the background makes a man to be an officer. When scandal is muckraked, those officers without powerful background would be investigated and punished. However, those with powerful background are able to stay out of the trouble. As a result, many people have united and dedicated themselves to the democracy business. Some of them have been abroad.
I have been in the United States for eight years. I have witnessed the American’s free life and their perfect law system. They are far away from the corruption and the despotism.
However, China is still in its own way: no medical care, no social security for the people in poverty, no fair educationà the Chinese market is the biggest trading market of the world. A lot of foreign fund are invested into this market and the great interests have been made. However, a large portion of them has been the military expenditure and the amount is increasing year by year, while the people’s living situation is still unimproved. I hope that Chinese government would distribute the fund, which is made from the society, back to the society. I hope that the Chinese government would put emphasis on the people and put more resources in the society instead of military.
