According to the World Journal, Yongshan County Court in Yunnan Province was recently found to charge "Probation inspection fee" at clearly marked prices. After the Yunnan Provincial Higher People's Court ordered to inspect into this matter, Yongshan County Court has returned the fee completely. According to the report, from the end of 2003 to June 2006, Yongshan County Court sentenced 95 people in 88 cases to probation, among which 40 people in 35 cases was charged "Probation inspection fee", with a total of 148,500 Yuan. "Probation inspection fee" has prices clearly marked according to criminal categories, which include rape, theft, corruption and traffic infraction. The highest is 5000 and lowest is 1000 Yuan.

Some criminals should receive imprisonment. But if the court receive "Probation inspection fee", they will successfully get probation instead. In a rape case, the defendant was sentenced to imprisonment for only 1 year and 6 months, with two years of probation. While under criminal law, the lowest punishment for rape is three years. Analysts pointed out that the "probation inspection fee" is not just another unreasonable charge of Yongshan County Court. Reading this report, I remembered that when I was working at the Taxi Union of Tianjin City, China, the leaders and cadres also charge money for no reason and goes corrupted. This made me further confirmed that I made the right choice coming to United States.

China is a country without fairness and democracy. Court is judicial system and sacred institution. But in China people are not equal in front of the law. Thus we have to unite, and contribute to build a sound legal system of China, to realize democracy in China, and to make China no longer the country of corruption.
